Here's a fun, creative, and colorful idea for Easter. Use it as decoration or a centerpiece. Growing up we usually had some sort of Easter Egg tree or special project...one year we made sugar eggs (the ones with scenes on the inside). We're hosting Easter at our house this year so I wanted to do something special for the centerpiece.
Start by blowing out some eggs. There is a good tutorial here http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Blow-Egg-Out-of-Egg-Shells/ or search online for videos.
Next, paint your choice of color (acrylic). It will take at least 3 coats. I picked a more pastel palette but you can do bold, jewel tones, or an ombre affect with different shades of 1 color. If you would rather die your eggs, do that first before blowing them out.
I really wanted to create a Robin egg affect so I speckled them with brown paint. Add a little water to the paint and use an old toothbrush to accomplish this. You'll have to do 1 side, let dry, and then roll eggs to do the other side.
Go outside and trim a branch off of a bush or tree. I also snatched a chunk of grass that was growing in my flower bed to use as a filler in one of my pink Pyrex mixing bowls that I collect. Hang your eggs and enjoy! After Easter, store eggs in an egg carton.
